Fascin-1 in Cancer Cell Metastasis: Old Target-New Insights

چکیده

As metastasis is responsible for most cancer-related deaths, understanding the cellular and molecular events that lead to cancer cell migration invasion will certainly provide insights into novel anti-metastatic therapeutic targets. Fascin-1 an actin-bundling protein fundamental all physiological or pathological processes require migration. It cross-linking actin microfilaments during formation of actin-rich structures at leading edge migrating cells such as filopodia, lamellipodia invadopodia. While epithelial tissues express low levels Fascin-1, it dramatically elevated in majority cancers its expression has been associated with more aggressive disease decreased overall survival. Hence, proposed a potential anti-cancer target. In present review, we studied recent literature regard different cancers, role altering mechanical properties cells, promoting migration, effect inhibition, via various pharmacological inhibitors, eliminating vitro and/or vivo. Recent studies corroborate notion critically involved prove valuable target worth investigating further.

The Cancer Stem Cell Hypothesis in Oral Squamous Cell Carcinoma: A New Target for the Treatment

Within a single tumor clone, cells have significantly different abilities to proliferate and form new tumors. This has led to the hypothesis that most cells in a cancer have a limited ability to divide and only a small subset of distinct cells, the cancer stem cells (CSCs), has the capacity to self-renew and form new tumors . It has been proposed that the development of tumors is based exclusiv...

New insights of epithelial-mesenchymal transition in cancer metastasis.

Epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) is a key step during embryonic morphogenesis, heart development, chronic degenerative fibrosis, and cancer metastasis. Several distinct traits have been conveyed by EMT, including cell motility, invasiveness, resistance to apoptosis, and some properties of stem cells. Many signal pathways have contributed to the induction of EMT, such as transforming grow...

Old Concepts, New Insights

Clinically significant non-major depression has been underinvestigated despite its high prevalence and public health impact. Although there is an increasing recognition of the importance of non-major forms of depression, their nosological boundaries and neurobiological mechanisms remain largely unknown. The authors discuss the literature pertaining to the current concepts, phenomenology, neurob...

Claudin 1 in Breast Cancer: New Insights.

Claudin 1 is a small transmembrane protein responsible for maintaining the barrier function that exists between epithelial cells. A tight junction protein that regulates the paracellular transport of small ions across adjacent cells, claudin 1 maintains cellular polarity and plays a major role in cell-cell communication and epithelial cell homeostasis. Long considered to be a putative tumor sup...
